BPI - California’s Compostables Law

This film was created in collaboration with the Biodegradable Products Institute and their policy team to address unintended consequences in California’s compostables law. The goal was to help legislators and staff quickly understand how the law, though well-intentioned, had become misaligned with real-world composting systems.

The film was designed as a briefing tool for legislative conversations - concise, evidence-driven, and structured to be usable by policymakers without oversimplifying technical realities.
